This is my last Blue Line article, as I’m retiring after 34-plus years. I am proud to have served as an LAPD officer. The quality of people in the LAPD is unmatched by any other department. I met and worked with many fine police officers over the years and have witnessed countless heroic acts.
Feb 1, 2008: Time to End the Consent Decree
The LAPD has been under the federal Consent Decree for six years now, and has performed remarkably. We are in substantial compliance with almost all of the requirements. However, the Department still has many officers who are consumed with the minutiae of auditing and auditing and auditing.
