Two Los Angeles police officers were injured Tuesday responding to a report of gunfire in Hollywood that left one man dead, authorities said.
The gunfire was reported about 3 p.m. near Santa Monica Boulevard and St. Andrews Place, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The officers were struck by another vehicle as they crossed a nearby intersection. They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including pain and a cut to the head, according to the LAPD.
The victim was shot as he sat in a car. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, police said. The victim's name and age were not released.
Since January 2007, at least 63 homicides have been reported within two miles of Tuesday's slaying, according to a database compiled by The Times' Homicide Report.
