80-Year-Old Kills 30-Year-Old Man In Fight Over A Woman, Police Say

An 80-year-old man got into a fight with another man, 30, at an Amazon Fresh in southwest Los Angeles on Tuesday and fatally shot the younger man, according to Los Angeles police. The octogenarian suspect was arrested late Tuesday afternoon, the LAPD reported. The shooting was first reported at 4:05 p.m. in the 6800 block of La Cienega Boulevard. Police reported the victim and the suspect got into a dispute in the parking lot over a woman. The dispute escalated until the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once, authorities said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department. His identity has yet to be released by officials. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and was in police custody. No further details were immediately available.

Investigation Underway After Man Stabbed To Death In Marina Del Rey

Authorities on Tuesday were investigating a stabbing that left one person dead in Marina Del Rey. Authorities responded to the scene on Washington Boulevard around 6 a.m. after receiving a call about a person lying on the ground, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. "Some passersby saw the body, called 911 and said that the man was facing downward in a pool of blood," said Bruce Borihanh with the LAPD. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The man, only described as being in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Information about a possible suspect or what prompted the stabbing has not been released. Traffic on Washington Boulevard from Palawan Way to Mildred Avenue was expected to be impacted over the course of the duration, which authorities said could take several hours.

2 Juveniles Shot In Pico-Union, Suspects At Large

A shooting in the Pico-Union neighborhood left two juveniles hospitalized while the suspects remain at large. Los Angeles police received reports of the shooting near Loyola High School at Pico Boulevard and Catalina Street around 4:30 p.m. Both victims are juveniles, but their ages and identities have not been released. When officers arrived, they found one victim lying on the sidewalk with injuries. They were transported to a local hospital by police. A bystander transported the second victim to the hospital. At least three male suspects fled the scene after the shooting, police said. Witnesses said some sort of argument broke out moments before the shooting took place. At least nine shell casings were discovered by reporters at the scene. The suspects are believed to be between 18-20 years old. They were last seen wearing white shirts and baggy jeans with backpacks. The suspects’ vehicle is believed to be a black sedan, possibly an Acura, and was last seen heading eastbound on Pico Boulevard.

LAPD Officer Has Big Skills On The Basketball Court

A Los Angeles Police Department officer is wowing on the basketball court with his trick shots. Arias George is known as Trick Shot Cop on social media where he has more than 350,000 followers on Instagram and more than 1 million on TikTok. In Long Beach last weekend, he was the VIP guest speaker for the season ending practice for a co-ed youth team, AEF Pro Camp. The trick shot went like this. One youth basketball player, Ethan Burton, made an easy shot. He then sends to ball over to another player, Ayden Segbefia, who makes a long shot. The coach's son, J'on Williams had the honor of then tossing the ball to George for a fancy play. The LAPD Sergeant, in police attire, shoots from half court with his back to the net and scores. The kids went wild. AEF Pro Camp is coached by Antonio Williams who works to get guest speakers out to meet and inspire the kids. Trick Shot Cop grew up in Pomona. He says he learned his wild shots just by continued practice. He does other antics on his social media. He bills himself as a public figure "creating worldwide connections."

Police In North Hollywood Investigate Hate Crime At Elementary School After LGBTQ Flag Burned

Police in North Hollywood are investigating a hate crime at Saticoy Elementary School after an LGBTQ flag was burned last week. They say someone broke into the school and set the flag on fire. This incident comes just as Pride Month is set to kickoff. June is recognized as Pride Month which is meant to celebrate the LGBTQ community. Some parents are also planning to keep their kids home on Friday as the school will be hosting an assembly for Pride Month. A flyer was posted on a social media account named, "@Saticoyelementaryparents" that encouraged parents to keep their kids home and to "Protest against Pride Day assembly, an inappropriate topic for our kids!" The social media account was created earlier this month after parents saw a rainbow parade assembly noted on the school calendar. The account has received some backlash from parents that support the school and its decisions to hold the Pride events.

Homeless Woman Attacks Girl On South LA Sidewalk, Man Jumps In To Help

A man in South Los Angeles is recovering after he stepped in to save a girl who was being attacked by a homeless woman. The attack happened just before 8 a.m. on May 26, on S. Main Street near W. 87th Street. The interaction was caught on surveillance video. In the video, a young girl in purple is seen walking along the sidewalk, while a woman is walking in the other direction. As they approach one another, the woman is seen swiping at the girl. The two struggle before going out of frame. John Arias is an armed security guard who was off duty when he saw the attack. He said that's when he intervened. He told FOX 11 that he was parking his car when he witnessed the attack, and said the woman had a knife. He ran over and grabbed the homeless woman, but was slashed across the face in the process. He stayed with the woman, taking her to the ground until his friend came to help. "She was shouting racial slurs. She was saying like ‘I’m tired of you Hispanic people.' So it was just a random attack, just a hateful crime," Arias said. "Luckily I was wearing my glasses and when she slashed my face my glasses actually helped save my eyeballs."

LA City Attorney Wins $5M Settlement From Biggest U.S. Ghost Gun Manufacturer

The nation’s largest manufacturer of ghost gun kits must pay millions of dollars in penalties and must conduct customer background checks and include serial numbers on its products sold throughout California, under a settlement won by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. The settlement includes $5 million in payouts, according to City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto’s office, which made the announcement Tuesday, May 30. That includes $4 million in civil penalties to be paid by the gun manufacturer, Polymer80, and $1 million in civil penalties leveled against the company’s two founders, Feldstein Soto’s office said. Under the settlement, Polymer80 can no longer sell ghost gun kits in California unless it includes serial numbers on its products and conducts background checks as required under federal law. Its dealers and distributors also are prohibited from selling unserialized gun kits in California, and the company can no longer provide customer support to individuals in the state. Half of the settlement payment will go to the city of Los Angeles, and the other half to Los Angeles County, according to the city attorney’s office. The settlement dollars can only be used to further efforts that involve consumer protection.

Man Pistol-Whipped During Violent Taco Truck Robbery In Willowbrook Area: Video

Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a taco truck and pistol-whipped an employee in the Green Meadows neighborhood of Los Angeles near Willowbrook late Sunday. Video shows the taco truck was parked near the intersection of 103rd Street and South Avalon Boulevard when the suspects approached around 11:45 p.m. A man in a blue hoodie, holding what appears to be a gun, is seen grabbing an employee and pushing him against the van while apparently holding the weapon to his neck. At one point, the suspect punched the employee and continued to hold on to him while reaching into the taco truck and pulling out cash. The suspect may have also taken the workers’ cell phones and wallets, according to stringer reports. Police are searching for the suspect who got away in what was described as a newer-model white Honda Accord. A second person was seen in the video but police are still trying to determine if the individual was involved in the robbery.

Search Underway For Man Last Seen In L.A.

Sheriff’s detectives asked for public help Sunday to locate a 28-year-old man last seen in downtown Los Angeles and possibly headed to San Bernardino. Maurice Iles Jr. was last seen about 7:30 a.m. Friday outside Union Station, in the 800 block of North Alameda Street, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Iles also goes by the nickname “C.J.” He is described as Black, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, a beard and mustache. He has the name “ALICIA” tattooed on his chest and a birthmark on his buttocks and was last seen wearing a blue-and-gray Dodgers shirt, gray sweatpants and green-and-white shoes. Anyone with information about Iles was asked to call the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

'He's Got A Rifle': Bodycam Shows Shootout That Killed 2 Wisconsin Officers; Report Details Shooting

Chetek police officer Emily Breidenbach and Cameron police officer Hunter Scheel were shot and killed within a 45-second span on April 8, and the suspected shooter Glenn D. Perry used an AR-15 to kill the officers, a report released recently states. Barron County District Attorney Brian Wright released his nine-page report on the officer-involved shooting that left Breidenbach, 32, and Scheel, 32, dead at the scene along Highway SS near Cameron. "Glenn Perry exited his vehicle armed with an AR-15 rifle and began shooting at them," Wright wrote. Perry, 50, was struck by one of the rounds in his right leg and later died from that wound. "Perry acted alone and is solely responsible for the deaths of Officer Breidenbach and Officer Scheel," Wright wrote. "His actions were premeditated. They are the epitome of evil. Perry had for years expressed animosity towards law enforcement and the government in general. At the same time, he interacted with law enforcement officers numerous times over the years on other matters without incident." Perry had the AR-15 and a 9mm handgun on his person at the time of the shooting. Both were legally purchased.

New York Officer Seriously Injured After Being Dragged During Traffic Stop

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident Monday night in which a Tonawanda police officer was dragged by a motorist fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle. Town Supervisor Joseph Emminger said Dareious Akbar was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, aggravated assault upon a police officer and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He said Akbar pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered held without bail pending a court appearance June 5. The arrest was first reported by WIVB-TV. Officer David Piatek was seriously injured about 8 p.m. Monday after he stopped a stolen Kia Sportage near Sheridan Parkside Drive and Pyle Court and it sped away. Piatek, a two-year veteran of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. Crime Stoppers WNY had offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest or indictment of the persons responsible. Auto thefts have been on the rise in the region since late last year, but especially over the first four months of 2023, according to data provided by several local police departments.

L.A. County Hospital Seeks Public’s Help Identifying Patient

Authorities with the Los Angeles General Medical Center are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male patient. The approximately 55-year-old man was admitted on May 27 after an unknown incident in the 900 block of North Vignes Street in Los Angeles, not far from the Twin Towers Correctional facility. The patient is described as being around 6 foot 1 inch tall and weighing about 170 pounds with an average build. He has shaved light brown, dirty blond hair and hazel-colored eyes. Anyone with information about this man or who may know his family is asked to contact Cesar Robles, a clinical worker at L.A. General Medical Center’s Department of Social Work at 323-409-6884.

Man Airlifted After Pickup Plunges Off Mountain In Angeles National Forest

A man was airlifted from the Angeles National Forest Monday afternoon after his pickup veered off the road and rolled some 200 feet down the side of a mountain. Firefighters used a helicopter to pull the man out of a white pickup that had been left on its side among trees and vegetation after veering off Sand Canyon Road at Santa Clara Truck Trail. It was unclear how long the man was down the side of the road before he was rescued. Firefighters who were driving by the area spotted the pickup and went down to see if anybody was inside, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The man was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the crash. NBC4’s NewsChopper4 helicopter showed the man apparently alert as he was airlifted into a fire department helicopter around 5 p.m.
