A California newlywed accused of fatally shooting his wife in the eye was arrested in Eagan, federal authorities said Thursday.
Dejames Oree Henderson, 30, of Los Angeles, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive by members of the Minneapolis FBI Fugitive Task Force, the agency said.
According to the FBI:
Task force members spotted Henderson, drew their weapons, ordered him to halt and arrested him without resistance.
Henderson said he didn't know why he was wanted and gave his name as Jeremy, but he acknowledged his true identity after being shown a copy of his California driver's license. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying a lighter made to look like a revolver.
He was booked into Dakota County jail and awaits extradition to California.
No other arrests are expected in connection with Henderson's flight to Minnesota, said FBI spokesman Steve Warfield.
On May 22, Henderson's wife, 30-year-old Shavonna Jones, was killed at her Los Angeles apartment in what police described as a domestic dispute between the newly married couple. Two months later, Henderson was charged with murder and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Los Angeles police investigators began to suspect that Henderson, who had vowed not to be taken alive, had fled to Minnesota.
