LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles police union says it has filed a claim for damages against the Police Department and the city Police Commission because a confidential report on police misconduct that included names of hundreds of officers was mistakenly posted online.
The Los Angeles Police Protective League says it filed the claim Thursday seeking redress for 248 officers who had been investigated for and cleared of racial profiling in 2008.
Their personal information, as well as the nature of the allegation against them, was briefly posted online Feb. 6. Officers suffered humiliation and other damages, according to the claim, which seeks more than $10,000 for each officer.Spokeswomen for the Police Department and the commission would not comment on pending litigation.
