LAPD mulls possible use of Korea's top breed dog in its force

[The LAPD] is considering using a Korean breed of dog, the Jindo, in its K-9 units.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two canine trainers from its elite Metropolitan Division will be sent to Jindo county, South Jeolla Province in Korea later this month.

The two trainers will evaluate roughly 30 Jindos for possible use in the force.

Meanwhile, Korea's Jindo Dog Promotion and Innovation Agency said this is the first collaboration of its kind with the US police agency.

The agency said if the LAPD is satisfied with the Jindo dogs' performance, two puppies will be sent to the US.

The Jindo is officially designated as Korea's 53rd National Treasure.
