Three suspects were taken into custody and a hostage was rescued in Riverside County Monday as part of an investigation that began four days ago after a kidnapping in the Van Nuys area, authorities said.
SWAT officers and robbery-homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department arrested the suspects Monday afternoon, said Officer Karen Rayner, a spokeswoman for the LAPD.
The officers, aided by Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies, descended on a home in an unincorporated area of the county where the suspects had been holding the man hostage, Rayner said.
Officers found a large amount of narcotics inside the residence in the 6900 block of Delaware River Road, Raynor said. The incident began July 29 after the hostage was abducted in the LAPD's Van Nuys Division.
Police said earlier that SWAT officers were involved in a chase on local freeways, but Rayner said that was a caravan of police cruisers responding to the residence.
The hostage apparently suffered injuries when he was abducted and was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Raynor said.
The names of the suspects and the hostage were not released.
