San Diego, CA - October 28, 2010 - The San Diego Police Officers Association, Inc. (SDPOA) is saddened by the loss of one of our own, shot and killed by an armed felon late last night.
San Diego Police Officer Chris Wilson was shot at 11:11 pm while trying to arrest a suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon. Officer Wilson later succumbed to his wounds at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. Officer Wilson was a 17-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department. He is survived by two children.
"There are few things harder in life than the loss of a brother," said Brian R. Marvel, president of the San Diego Police Officers Association. "Officer Wilson displayed bravery, courage and a commitment to protecting San Diegans from a dangerous individual. His family and many friends are in our thoughts and prayers. His sacrifice will never be forgotten."
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date. The San Diego Police Officers Association has set up a trust fund for Officer Wilson's family. Checks can be made payable to the SDPOA Charity Fund.
