16 More Alleged Victims Of Sexual Assault Suspect Come Forward, More Sought, LAPD Says

Sixteen additional possible victims of a sexual assault suspect who was arrested in April in downtown Los Angeles have since been identified and interviewed, police said Thursday. Terrance Hawkins, 41, of Los Angeles, was arrested April 26 and remains jailed without bail. Police said he had a history "of briefly dating women, abusing them and filming them during sexual intercourse." At the time of his arrest, police said they believed there may be additional victims. On Thursday, police announced that 16 possible victims had come forward since Hawkins' arrest. Police again said investigators "believe there are more" alleged victims out there. Police Seek Possible Additional Victims Of Westchester Sex Assault Suspect

The Los Angeles Police Department reached out to the public Thursday for help identifying possible additional victims of a sexual assault suspect. Peter Avraham Shure, 29, of Westchester, was arrested June 28 on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, after investigators received two reports of forced sexual assault involving two female victims, police said. Shure allegedly convinced the victims to go to his residence and sexually assaulted them, police said. He is charged with two counts of forcible rape and one count of lewd act on a child, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Shure posted bond and was released from custody last Friday, jail records show. He is due back at the Airport courthouse Aug. 7, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to allow the case against him to proceed to trial. Detectives released Shure's booking photo, saying they believe he may be responsible for additional assaults that have not been reported. Police Search For Armed Suspect In Montecito Heights Neighborhood

Police continue to search for a man armed with a gun in a Montecito Heights neighborhood Friday morning. The Los Angeles Police Department reported around 4:30 a.m. they responded to a call of a man armed with a gun. Once the man was located, he led police on a short pursuit until crashing his car. The suspect then jumped out of his car, and over an hour later, police continue their search for the suspect at East Avenue 43 and Griffin Avenue. The suspect is said to be a man in his 20s wearing blue jeans and a black sweater.

Koreatown T-Mobile Robbed At Gunpoint; 4 Men Sought

Four men robbed a T-Mobile store in Koreatown at gunpoint Thursday, prompting a police search for the suspects who fled the scene. Officers responded around 5:45 p.m. to a report about a hold-up in the 600 block of South Western Avenue near Wilshire Boulevard, where four men entered a T-Mobile store, at least two of them armed with handguns, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. It was unclear exactly what was stolen during the heist, but the four suspects left the store and were last seen entering a dark gray four-door sedan with California license plate number 8FVR375. No suspect descriptions were immediately available. Anyone with information regarding the robbery was urged to contact 213-382-9102 or 911. Man Sentenced To 2 Years For Dump-Truck Rampage At Estranged Wife's South Los Angeles Home

A man who went on a rampage with a dump truck, crashing into his estranged wife's South Los Angeles home earlier this year, has been sentenced to two years in prison after agreeing to a plea deal, according to court records. Ronald Lee Dunn was seen on video crashing the dump truck into his estranged wife's home in the Westmont neighborhood several times on Jan. 15 of this year. His wife, Patricia Dunn, told Eyewitness News at the time that they were going through a contentious divorce and she was seeking a restraining order. She also said he had first come by that day in a Chevy Impala and crashed into the house outside her bedroom, then returned later in the dump truck he used for work to cause more damage. He also smashed into several cars in the neighborhood. Court records indicate on June 29 Dunn pleaded no contest to one count of making criminal threats. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

Truck Crashes Into Crowd During Street Takeover In Los Angeles

Street takeovers shut down intersections in the Hyde Park, Harvard Park and Gramercy Park neighborhoods of South Los Angeles overnight. One of the incidents took place around midnight at the intersection of West Century Boulevard and Denker Avenue in the Gramercy Park area. A red pickup truck could be seen doing doughnuts in the street when it slammed into the curb. The truck flew into the air, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It then drove into a crowd gathered in the intersection, but it was unclear if anyone was injured. A Metro bus driver was recording some of the chaos on her cellphone when she became stuck in traffic. The bus driver appeared to be in good spirits but was concerned about the passengers.

Authorities Seek Help Of Public Locating Missing Teenage Girl, Dog

Authorities sought the public's help Thursday in locating a missing 13-year-old girl and her dog. Heavan Lyann Dominguez was last seen just after midnight Thursday morning in the 1000 block of South Arizona Avenue in East Los Angeles. The teen was described as being 5-feet-5 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. She has straight blue hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white beanie, black shirt, blue jeans, black Converse shoes and a black backpack. Heavan was accompanied by a small brown dog. Her family reported that the teen suffers from depression, according to the sheriff's department. Silver Alert Issued For Missing 74-Year-Old Man Last Seen In Santa Monica

A Silver Alert was issued Thursday evening for a missing 74-year-old man last seen in Santa Monica. The California Highway Patrol issued the alert on behalf of the Santa Monica Police Department in the search for Carlos Zertuche. Authorities said he was last seen around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near 21st Street and Santa Monica Boulevard. “Zertuche may display aggressive behavior, use caution when approaching,” according to the CHP alert. He was described as 5-foot-9, weighing 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be on foot, and wearing a dark shirt and black pants. Anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts was asked to call 911.

Georgia Deputy Killed By Suspect Who Stole Patrol Car Was On The Job For Less Than 1 Year

A deputy who was shot and killed in the line of duty had been with the department for 10 months, according to the sheriff's office. Deputy Tyee Browne was a military veteran and started with the Crisp County Sheriff's Office in February of 2022, the sheriff's office said. In September of 2022, he transferred to the Uniform Patrol Division after graduating from basic mandate. Funeral services for Browne will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Crisp County Middle School Auditorium. Visitations will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. "Deputy, son, grandson, loved one, and friend, while these are all titles that describe Deputy Tyee Browne, hero is the title we bestow upon him today. At 26 years old, this young man faced evil in protecting this community," Sheriff Billy Hancock said in a statement. Browne was conducting a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. The 26-year-old checked the car's history and it had been reported stolen. As Browne was checking the car, the suspect, identified as Croshawn Cross, shot Browne and fled the scene in Browne's marked patrol car.

Kentucky Officer Wounded In Shooting At Car Dealership

A Bowling Green police officer was seriously injured and another person was killed in a shooting Thursday, according to Kentucky State Police. The shooting happened at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to KSP. Ronnie Ward with the Bowling Green Police Department told WBKO the incident happened at Car-Mart on Russellville Road. The police officer and another man were transported to a hospital. The officer’s injuries were described as life-threatening, according to KSP. The other man died at the hospital. No other details about the shooting were provided. KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team was investigating the shooting, as it typically does when law enforcement officers in Kentucky are involved in shootings. KSP responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred. Bowling Green police were also assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on scene. Gov. Andy Beshear tweeted Thursday evening to offer support to the officer. “We have learned of a reported incident in Bowling Green of an officer being shot and wounded,” Beshear said. “Kentucky, please join Britainy and me in prayer for this officer, their family and fellow officers.”

5-Year-Old LA County Girl Survives Brutal Dog Attack

A 5-year-old Los Angeles County girl survived a brutal dog attack in Lancaster. The family's dog, who didn't really have a history of aggressive behavior before the incident, attacked the little girl while she was playing in her mom's bed. The little girl, Macayla Jackson, needed to be airlifted to the hospital because her facial injuries were so serious. Although she appeared a little woozy and shaken up from the incident, Macayla was back home in Lancaster after recovering in the hospital. "Just a little bit of pain," she told FOX 11. Macayla's mother, Michelle Bell, was happy with the job the surgeons did in treating her daughter. Animal Control took the dog, Razor, for quarantine purposes. As of Thursday, no decisions have been made on whether Razor can return home.

Firefighters Knock Down House Blaze In West Hills

Firefighters Thursday quickly extinguished a house fire in West Hills that threatened other nearby structures. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a report about a house fire with heavy flames in the 7900 block of North Sale Avenue, near Strathern Street, at around 5:25 p.m., according to spokesman Nicholas Prange of the LAFD. It took 25 firefighters about 18 minutes to douse the flames, the department said. According to Prange, several firefighters deployed a hose line to attack the fire inside the home to protect nearby structures. Prange said other firefighters ascended ladders to ventilate the roof and allow smoke and “super-heated” gases to escape, so crews below could tend to the flames more effectively.

Councilmember Park Join Forces With Wildlife Experts To Tackle Sea Lion Crisis

A temporary marine mammal “resting zone” has been set up in Marina Del Rey to address the impact of the largest toxic algae bloom ever recorded off Central and Southern California’s coast. Sea life specialists and volunteers from the Marine Mammal Care Center (MMCC) are working tirelessly inside a makeshift 50 by 50-square-foot fenced area near the shoreline at Charlie Beach. Officials report that there are currently eight sea lions suffering from domoic acid poisoning, which is a neurotoxin produced by the bloom of toxic marine algae called Pseudo-nitzschia australis. The toxin can cause seizures and heart failure by attacking the brain and heart. At a press-conference held on Thursday afternoon, Councilwoman Traci Park was joined by Los Angeles city, county and wildlife officials including John Warner, CEO of MMCC and Gary Jones, Director of Department of Beaches & Harbors to discuss the marine mammal crisis.
