City Street Lane Closures During Mulholland Bridge Demolition Project

The Mulholland Drive Bridge will be demolished and reconstructed to accommodate the widening of the I-405 freeway and to add a northbound high-occupancy vehicle lane through the Sepulveda Pass. Demolition activities will take place over the July 16-17 weekend for 53 consecutive hours, resulting in the full closure of the I-405 freeway in the Sepulveda Pass. The Mulholland Drive Bridge will also be closed that weekend.

In conjunction with state and local agencies involved with the Mulholland Drive Bridge project, the City of Los Angeles, Department of Transportation has finalized temporary restricted parking on City streets for Saturday, July 16 thru Monday, July 18. Parking lanes on the surface streets specified below will be used for through traffic only and therefore designated as "Tow Away, No Stopping Anytime" during the upcoming weekend.

Ventura Boulevard between Balboa Blvd. and Sherman Oaks Avenue - South Side

Ventura Boulevard between Noble Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard - North Side

Sepulveda Boulevard between Greenleaf Street and Valley Vista Boulevard - Both Sides

Sepulveda Boulevard between Valley Vista Boulevard and the 405 Freeway - West Side

Sepulveda Boulevard between Moraga Drive and Ovada Place - East Side

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation will begin to strictly enforce a restricted, no-stopping policy for the streets listed above beginning at 12:01 AM on July 16, 2011. This will include the citing and impounding of vehicles parked on these streets. Vehicles stopped or parked on the streets noted above will be towed to the Official Police Garage servicing those respective areas, at the request of the Department of Transportation or the Los Angeles Police Department. Motorists are advised to call 1-818 752-5100 or check the OPG website at www.opglaviic.com to locate and redeem vehicles.

Traffic conditions on local streets and freeways within the region of Los Angeles County and beyond are expected to be severe, with significant, multi-hour delays. Motorists who must travel during this weekend are advised to plan ahead, monitor real-time traffic conditions prior to beginning their trips, and follow alternate routes that are provided. Residents are urged to use public transit during the closure period.
