Police sought the public's help Monday in finding the killer of a man who was gunned down in a gang-related, car-to-car shootout in Van Nuys.
Luis Delgado, 33, was shot about 9:50 p.m. Sunday at Saticoy Street and Gaynor Avenue and died at a hospital, said LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh. Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related.
"Delgado was driving his car in the area of Saticoy Street and Gaynor Avenue when he was involved in a verbal exchange with a suspect that was also in a car," Borihanh said.
"Both the victim and suspect pulled handguns and a car-to-car shooting ensued, where Delgado was struck in the chest by gunfire," Borihanh said. "It is unknown if the suspect was shot."
The suspect is described as a 20- to 25-year-old Latino who was driving a red compact four-door sedan.
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call Detective John Doerbecker at 818-374-7713 or 877-LAPD-24-7.
