Schwarzenegger announces $7.5M anti-gang funding

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced $7.5 million in grants to help fund crime prevention and gang intervention programs in California.

Speaking in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the governor said the money would go toward education, job training and placement programs for youths deemed to be at risk of gang involvement or currently in a gang.

The money comes from federal Workforce Investment Act funds.

Schwarzenegger also announced the California Highway Patrol would step up anti-gang activity in 15 cities it helps patrol around the state.
