Eagle & Badge Foundation Gala - September 26th

Access Hollywood's Billy Bush to host

On Saturday, September 26th at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, the Los Angeles Police Protective League's Eagle & Badge Foundation will present the 2009 Eagle & Badge Gala Dinner, raising funds to help the families of police officers and the children in the communities served by LAPD.

The Board of Directors has announced the 2009 honorees:

  • Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen 'Nuch' Trutanich;
  • President of the L.A. City Council, Eric Garcetti;
  • CBS 2 Sports Director Jim Hill;
  • Acting Assistant Secretary of the Navy Harvey C. Barnum, Jr.;
  • Castulo de la Rocha, Chairman of AltaMed Health Services;
  • And a special tribute to the 2009 Medal of Valor recipients.

Funds raised at this dinner gala will benefit: The Eagle and Badge Foundation, which provides much-needed scholarships and financial support for police officers and their children, along with the children and charitable organizations in the communities they serve; and the Tichi Wilkerson Kassel Parkinson's Foundation, which funds research and special need cases of those afflicted with Parkinson's disease. Organizations and projects helped by the Eagle & Badge Foundation this year include:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will serve as our Honorary Chair, and Access Hollywood's Billy Bush will host the evening. Arthur M. Kassel is serving once again as Event Chair and Executive Producer of the Gala and promises another exciting, impactful and star-studded evening recognizing community leaders along with the Medal of Valor recipients who have risked their life for the city. Event Vice Chair Peter Repovich noted that although the economy has been challenged this year, it is hoped that the community will generously support the honorees and the Foundation in their charitable efforts.

  • Los Angeles County District Attorney's DNA Crime Lab;
  • LAPD Family Support Group77th Division Memorial Waterfall;
  • Metro Division's First Annual Randy Simmons 5K Challenge Run;
  • MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity);
  • Randal D. Simmons Outreach Foundation;
  • Relay for Life;
  • Ronald McDonald House;
  • The Glory Kids;
  • Tichi Wilkerson Kassel Parkinsons' Foundation; and the
  • Traffic Safety Mural Project.

Last year's event was a resounding success, with over 1,100 guests on hand from the entertainment, local, state and federal government, law enforcement and business communities. This year our guests will once again enjoy exciting silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner and VIP receptions along with the LAPD experience - a broad array of the departments and services of the LAPD, from the SWAT and Canine Units to the Underwater Dive Team and Air Support.

Sponsorship opportunities and tables are all available from $5,000 to $25,000, with a few tables left at $3,000 each. Click here for sign-up forms.

Individual tickets are $300, $500 or $1,000 each with a limited number of tickets for officers available at a reduced rate of $150 each.
