Truck Driver Allegedly Runs Red Light And Kills Motorcyclist Near Lincoln Heights

Investigators in Los Angeles need help finding the driver who allegedly killed a motorcyclist after running through a red light in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. The deadly crash happened on May 18 at about 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 20 and North Broadway. Detectives said the driver of a white Ford pickup truck ran through a red light as the motorcycle headed northbound on Avenue 20, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. To dodge the truck, the motorcyclist laid down his motorcycle but collided with the roadway. His body slid under the truck, which subsequently ran over him. The pickup drove away without helping the injured motorist. The Los Angeles Fire Department tried to save the man as they took the victim to a local hospital. However, doctors pronounced him dead at a nearby medical center. Authorities have not identified the 49-year-old victim. Officers released photos of the suspect's white truck, which has rear metal utility rack. As with many fatal hit-and-run crashes, the city has announced a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the driver.

Canoga Park 7-Eleven Robbed At Gunpoint

The search is underway in Canoga Park on Wednesday for suspects who authorities believe are part of a criminal crew that has been targeting businesses in the San Fernando Valley. It was around 3:40 a.m. when four masked men in a red Hyundai are caught on surveillance video pulling up in front of the 7-Eleven on Saticoy and Fallbrook. Three of the suspects jump out, with the getaway driver remaining in the car. One of those men, armed with what police say was an assault-style rifle, storms the 7-Eleven, pointing the gun at the clerk and demanding money while the two others began stealing cigarettes, alcohol, BuzzBallz, and even bottles of water and Gatorade. "I'm scared. Like they had like a AK-47, like a machine gun. So I'm scared. Scared," the clerk recalled. Thankfully, that clerk was not hurt, although at one point the suspects did threaten them, telling him not to call the police or else. He wisely waited for them to take off again in the red Hyundai, and then called the police. The case is now being investigated by the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division.

Crime Spree Suspects Accused Of Bragging About Stolen Loot On Instagram

Four men were arrested after they stole nearly $8,000 from several convenience stores during a crime spree and posted their loot to social media, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The suspects primarily targeted 7-Eleven stores in their armed robberies last November and December, federal officials said. They would then post the cash they stole and other items they took off with on their Instagram accounts, according to law enforcement. “Love my bros we go hit every time,” one suspect allegedly wrote in a caption on Instagram for a photo of a stack of cash. He also tagged the Instagram accounts of the other three men accused in the crime spree. The Department of Justice identified the suspects as: Tazjar Rouse, 22, of Hollywood; Charles Christopher, 24, of Compton; Jordan Leonard, 25, of Torrance; and D’Angelo Spencer, 26, of South Los Angeles. They allegedly would jump over the counters, steal the stores’ cash and place the money and other items into a black Nike bag, and then take off in a BMW. One of the men would point a gun at customers or store employees and demand their wallets or cellphones. “Violent gun crime leaves lasting emotional and psychological scars for victims,” said United States Attorney Martin Estrada. “Anyone thinking that violent robberies are a good way to make money should take note that there will be consequences for your actions.”
