Authorities targeting a San Gabriel Valley-based Asian crime syndicate arrested 18 people Wednesday morning indicted on drug trafficking and international marriage fraud charges.
The three-year investigation used surveillance and wire taps to apprehend suspected Red Door gang members in Rowland Heights, El Monte, Diamond Bar, Alhambra, San Gabriel, West Covina, San Dimas, Arcadia, Los Angeles, Huntington Beach, Culver City and Flushing, New York, according to federal officials.
"We've certainly taken into custody several members and associates of the gang and we hope that disrupts their activities, but at this point it's too early to tell," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Rosenburg.
The men and women are accused of selling and manufacturing marijuana, methamphetamine and ecstasy, possession and sale of guns and falsifying marriages to gain legal residency, according to the indictment.
