Family Seeks Help Looking For Maui Woman Missing In Los Angeles
Family members are asking for the community’s help searching for a Maui woman who missed her connecting LAX flight and hasn’t been seen or heard from since Nov. 10. The last message that Hannah Kobayashi, 31, sent to her family was alarming, they say. “She mentioned feeling scared, and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” her aunt said. Kobayashi is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds and has brown hair and eyes, and fair skin with freckles. Kobayashi’s family said she was traveling from Maui to New York City to visit family, but when she missed her connecting flight in Los Angeles at 11 p.m. on Nov. 8, she decided to go to The Grove for a Lebron James event. When she returned to LAX days later, her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, said that was when she started sending concerning text messages. “Strange, cryptic messages – things about the matrix, it was so unlike her,” Pidgeon told KTLA’s Angeli Kakade. “And then all of a sudden, no more communication.”

Maryland Officers Search For Suspect After Finding 80 Illegal Firearms At Scene Of Reported Domestic Assault
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s officers are searching for a 39-year-old man after recovering 80 firearms in connection with a call for a domestic assault last Thursday. The suspect left the scene before authorities arrived, according to a Friday news release from the sheriff’s office. On Friday, officers turned up an “extensive collection of weapons” after executing search warrants on the residence and vehicles on the 20000 block of Goddard Road in Lexington Park, where a domestic assault had been reported the day before, the release says. The collection included guns of all sizes, including handguns, an AK-47, semiautomatic rifles and 3D-printed “ghost guns,” according to the release. Officers also found 3D printers, gun manufacturing equipment, large-capacity magazines and gun modification components, in addition to over 1,300 rounds of ammunition. The suspect, who is prohibited from having a gun due to prior convictions dating back to 2007, is also wanted for theft. The release states detectives applied to press charges on him related to the weapons stockpile, but the Maryland Judiciary’s website currently shows only a charge of second-degree assault stemming from the Nov. 7 incident.

Gang Takedown Nets 30 Suspects Wanted In New York Shootings And Murders Spanning 6 Years
Vicious gang members responsible for nearly half of the reckless shootings in Inwood and Washington Heights over the last six years, including the murders of four innocent bystanders, were charged in a series of sweeping indictments that got killers and guns off the streets, officials said Thursday. Thirty gang members in all were rounded up and charged in connection with 18 shootings in which seven people were killed, including four victims who were not targets. The bloodshed included two gunpoint robberies, one of which was fatal, officials said. “These groups have allegedly committed fatal and horrific gun violence in Inwood and Washington Heights over the past six years,” said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “I want to be very clear: if you traffic illegal firearms into Manhattan, or use guns to commit violence against fellow Manhattanites, you will be held accountable. “We will not accept this type of conduct, which tears at the fabric of our communities.” Four of the suspects, allegedly associated with a crew known to police as “Own Every Dollar” (O.E.D), were charged in connection with two separate shootings, including one where O.E.D. members shot indiscriminately into a crowded basketball court, striking an innocent bystander in the chest. Another 18 members of the “200/8 Block,” and eight members of the “6 Block” crew were also arrested and charged.

Fire At AutoZone Store In Hollywood Burns Through Neighboring Businesses, Forces Street Closure
A fire in an automotive parts store in Hollywood that burned through neighboring businesses was knocked down Saturday night. Just before 4:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department stated that crews were working to assess heavy smoke emanating from an AutoZone automotive store in an L-shaped, one-story strip mall at 1306 N. Highland Ave., north of Fountain Avenue. At 5 p.m., an update by the LAFD noted road closures on Highland between DeLongpre and Lexington avenues due to fire crews battling the heavy fire. Some 124 firefighters were assigned to knock down the flames that were structurally damaging the store -- one of three businesses in the mall, LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said. In an operation of over two hours, the fire was completely extinguished and the adjoining two stores, a Fat Sal's Deli and Sushi Ajito, also sustained heavy damages. It was unclear if the businesses were closed as a result of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Witnesses described seeing an "explosive fire" potentially caused by a battery at the store, but the cause remained under investigation, Humphrey said.
