Tempe police arrested a 27-year-old man wanted by Los Angeles police in connection with a home invasion robbery and homicide, police said.
On March 26, 2009 LAPD responded to a crime in Sherman Oaks, Calif. and found 31-year-old Brian Thomas Caulfield handcuffed and shot multiple times. Caulfield died from his injuries, police said.
LAPD also found Caulfield's roommate, 30-year-old Eric Gonzalez handcuffed in the apartment.
Gonzalez told police that three men posing as police officers came into their apartment and identified themselves as undercover police officers. The men then proceeded to handcuff both Gonzalez and Caulfield.From there police said struggle ensued and Caulfield was shot multiple times.
On Thursday, Tempe police arrested Daryl Anthony Sconiers after a traffic stop near Rural and Broadway Roads.
After presenting officers with a false identification card, Sconiers ran from the vehicle and was pursued by police on foot, police said.
Police said they booked Sconiers into Tempe City Jail on a charge of possession of stolen credit cards that were located during the traffic stop.
Officers later discovered a homicide warrant for Sconiers after he was positively identified by the department's Identification Unit.
Sconiers was held on the outstanding homicide warrant stemming from the incident in Los Angeles and was awaiting extradition, police said.
